I love the movement of that long hair of hers
Quick question, what exactly are the colors for 'pine tree' juni-hitoe, i.e. the 12-layer kimono, which can be worn all year 'round? Deep red with green for the inner layers? I have no particular seasonal setting in mind for my (proposed) Heian period piece. It could be in winter, early spring. Ah well, I guess black and white could work too ;(
concerning colors combination for juni-hitoe,I really don't know the seasonal codes or fashions..I usually do my way,but it seems that red comes often in 1 or 2 layers, with white for undergarb, some lines of black close to the collar(there are wonderful heian juni-hitoe in the great movie "Gate of Hell"(1953,"Jigokumon" in japanese),with gorgeous actress Kyô Machiko in layers of silk and long black hair...I recommend you this masterpiece if you don't know it...great story of war, love and hate during the Heiji rebellion(1160)
different scales of grey with shades of blue/purple could possibly fit for winter strolling in snow gardens(it's a personal point of view,of course!)
Otherwise,black & white+grey,as you said,is always working nice
I'm sure your result will be striking!
I'm more an 'armour' rather than kimono kind of guy
