Description

Another picture I created for Paris Japan Expo 2010
This is more linked to japanese culture but,to change of Fox Spirits and other Tengus,I tried a combination with a different type of Legendary Creature!
This Mermaid makes trophies of the armors of the drowned samurais she traps!
...especially those who hunt her to make some sushi!

She didn't understand him, and too be fair, how could she?
They had all been the same! Every single last one of them!
Century after century they had come down into her world. Hunters and murders all. They came armored and well armed. Down, down, down into the depths of the sea just to find one of her people. They come to claim a ningyo. To claim her, capture her, and in a vile bid for an unnaturally long-life, to eat of her enchanted flesh. To kill her.
But what she had seen that day, the fight that she had just witnessed was unlike anything that she had ever seen during the last two centuries.
A man came from the surface, just like all the others. He wore his armor just like all the others. He held his blade at the ready, just like all the others.
And like all of the others Miko was ready for him. She two war armored, weaving a protective shied(Forged from the armor of the dead) over her fish like tail, fro  which a single sheathed blade hung. Oh yes she was ready for him, but what she was not ready for, what she could never prepared herself for was the bizarre scene that unfolded right before her very eyes.
A second man dove down from above and slammed right into the back of the first.
He was unarmed and unarmored this newcomer but he was so fast and so cunning that he proved to be more than a match for the man in the armor.
She watched them fight not truly caring who would claim the victory, for whoever did she would assure that by her blade the ultimate victory would be hers. In the end that battle was brief and with a sick SNAP! the unarmed man sent his opponent down to the depths below.
Miko unsheathed her sword and held it at the ready.
The stranger turned his gaze toward her. His eyes were bright and his youthfully expressive face bore a mixed look of exhaustion and joyful relief.
She waited for him to make his move.
She waited for him to attack...
...but to her surprise he didn't.
A smile briefly crossed his lips and for a moment, a very brief moment their eyes were locked in an awkward sort of touch-less embrace. Then as she watched those eyes, those captivatingly powerful eyes rolled back in his head as his body convulsed in short powerful spurts.
He was dying.
Miko, her heart racing, was frozen in attack position, unsure of what to do next.
Should she act or should she not? Was it right, was it fair, was it justified to just let this man, this son of a murder's race die?
What, she wondered, as she stared in awestruck silence, should she do...?
